I often joke that the only room in our house that doesn’t have a hole in it is our living room. As I look around our small house I realize the truth isn’t far from that. Our kitchen technically doesn’t have any holes or demo done on it, but we plan to demo it once some of our other rooms are complete. The living room is the one room in the house we don’t have major plans for because it was pretty darn cute when we moved in. A few minor adjustments and its already been transformed into something we love.
Besides adding our own decor, the two major changes have been painting the actual bricks and top of he fireplace and adding these tall curtains.
There’s so much character in this room from the built in book shelves with the leaded glass to the extra wide trim to the fireplace. We spend most of our time relaxing in here as you can imagine!
Some of our other house projects are taking longer than anticipated mostly because we had no idea how much work it takes to work with old houses trying to make things even and clean and up to code…. so much shimming! This room has been a respite from all the chaos in the surrounding rooms.
Through this Thanksgiving season it’s been easy to be grateful for this room and our new house. Just yesterday we were saying that buying this house was the best decision we’ve made in our lives and we’re so thankful to have it!
