When we first looked at this house, we knew the first thing that needed to go was the bathroom. It not only was dated, but smelled like mold and I had an sneezing attack going in there for only a few minutes. On top of all that, it was ridiculously small and weirdly laid out. I’ve never really been excited about bathroom designs (I’ve thought of a million ways to design kitchens, but bathrooms I’ve found pretty standard), but this was a priority for us and has been our first major project at our new house.
Not having a functioning bathroom and looking through a ton of amazing inspiration pictures has changed my outlook on bathroom designing, however. I can’t wait to have a beautiful, functioning place to get around and feel clean in!
I wanted to share with you some of the before pictures, some of my favorite bathroom inspirations, and our design plans.
Here was the original bathroom layout. Those two doors actually opened up into the two bedrooms, so the only way to access it was through the bedrooms – super weird. Then, toilet almost smashed up against the shower and every time you walked into the bathroom you almost hit your hips on the vanity.
A few before photos:
As you can see, it needed to all be taken out and replaced, plus we needed to find a way to make more space.
The new layout takes moving out two closets and bumping out some area in one of the bedrooms for the shower.
Here are a few photos that are really inspiring my design choices.
There are probably a hundred more bathrooms that I’ve been inspired by, but these are some that I keep going back to for inspiration.
From all the ideas I’ve had, I’ve created this board to put everything together to help me see how it will all come together.
I can’t wait to get it all put together!
