For quite some time, I’ve been rolling this idea around in my head and in August of this year I decided to make it happen. I’m opening up an online shop to sell a line of handlettered decor products!
My mission for this blog and for all my creative efforts has been to inspire others to appreciate beauty in everyday life and to live with intention. I don’t want it to be a place that boasts my material things or instills envy in others; I want the things I share to be encouragement to others to craft their homes and lives to feel intentional and personal in an attainable way.
I began lettering over a year ago because I loved that it was handcrafted and personal and allowed you to share meaningful words in a decorative, beautiful way. It fit so well with my mission and what I wanted to create that I started dreaming up ways to incorporate it into my life and my work. I found quotes that inspired me and reminded me of the lifestyle I wanted to create and put those into my designs.
At the same time I noticed a lot of other handlettering artwork popping up in decor and signage, but a lot of it didn’t quite fit with my personality. I’ve always been calm, empathetic, even-tempered, a listener, and full of thoughts. However, a lot of decor or prints I saw said things like, “Hey Gorgeous” which just wasn’t something that fit me. I wanted to create handlettering that sounded more like me, not what I saw everywhere else. I also saw that there was a gap in the market in this field for others that might feel the same way.
All this led me to create the Pearl Girl Creates Shop! In two weeks, on November 14, I will be opening up a new shop with banners, mugs, tote bags, and kitchen towels all handcrafted with my lettering designs.
I’ll be giving sneak peeks of what will be for sale in the shop over on my Instagram over the next few weeks, so be sure to follow me there! I’m also going to be giving out special coupon codes and making announcements to my email subscribers exclusively, so make sure you sign up for my email list over on the sidebar.
